Apple Fanboys, Selfie Addicts and Pouters, get in here!

Instagram launched its new photo collage app, Layout on Monday, March 23rd. This app is awesome for merging memorable photos together according to the custom layouts.

Layout allows you combine multiple photos into a single image such as the likes of Picstory.

Built in somewhat the same fashion as the Instagram app, Layout lets you simply find photos of yours and your friends with its Facesfeature. Also, the Photobooth option serves spontaneous moments. All you need do is to tap it to start a countdown and capture photos you’ll see immediately in the layout you have chosen.

So now you can merge your front facing camera selfie, your gunman pose, your favourite pout/ duckface photo….and let’s not forget the ‘search for nothing pose’… Looool!

However, some controversy has already started brewing less than a week into the life of the new app, with independent developer Mike Swanson accusing Instagram of ‘borrowing’ the name Layout without permission. Swanson released his own photo collage app, also known as Layout way back in 2012.

It’s left to be seen how the drama plays out and how the two Layouts do in the app store in the coming days.

Layout by Instagram is currently on iOS and will be available to Android users soon.
